History of Maulana Azad Medical College
Maulana Azad Medical College dates back to 1936 when India was still ruled by the British. The British were significantly manning the Indian Medical Service at the time. But, in 1939, the Second World War broke out, and his ideas for a new medical institution were shelved.
MAMC began at the former Irwin Hospital in 1958. Govind Ballabh Pant laid the foundation stone for the college’s new buildings in October 1959 and the college was opened on February 26th, 1961.
