Practice makes perfect: 

As per the NEET PG  official notice given by the National Board of Examination (NBE), the question paper will consist of 200 questions divided into three sections. Students should also revise previous years’ question papers of NEET PG to get an idea about the type of questions asked for their convenience. The five critical stages of the admission process.

Eligibility criteria

The first step for admission in postgraduate courses is to fulfil NEET PG eligibility criteria. The National Board of Education (NBE) releases its information brochure on their website along with all the details like eligibility criteria, important dates, guidelines, marking scheme, exam pattern, etc. The eligibility criteria for NEET PG also includes all important criterias like age, qualification, nationality, domicile, etc.

Candidates having an MBBS degree or Provisional MBBS Pass Certificate are recognized under the provisions of the NMC Act, 2019 and the repealed Indian Medical Council Act 1956 and the erstwhile Medical Council of India or State Medical Council and should have completed one year of internship or are likely to complete the internship( needs to be submitted at the time of counselling/admission) are eligible to apply for NEET PG through online application system at website nbe.edu.in. 

Registration with the NMC/ the erstwhile Medical Council of India or State Medical Council is necessary, and its documentary proof should be furnished by the candidates on the day of examination and at the time of counselling/admissions.

NEET PG Eligibility Criteria – Foreign Medical Graduates

 Indian citizens or overseas citizens of India who have obtained their Primary Medical Qualifications from Medical Colleges outside India should qualify the Foreign Medical Graduate Examination (Screening Test) as per Screening Test Regulations, 2002, conducted by National Board of Examinations. Further, they should be registered with the NMC/ the erstwhile Medical Council of India or State Medical Council and should have completed their internship or likely to complete their internship. Foreign Medical Graduates are required to bring their FMGE Pass certificate issued by NBE on their testing day along with the provisional/permanent registration certificate issued by a medical council.

The NBE conducts the FMGE twice a year – in June and December, respectively. The FMGE Admit Card is released online by the NBE.

NEET PG  Exam Pattern

 NEET PG is conducted in a single day & single session as a computer-based examination.

Syllabus:

The syllabus for the exam shall comprise of subject/ knowledge area as per Graduate Medical Education Regulations issued by the erstwhile Medical Council of India with prior approval of the Govt of India.

The examination shall be multiple-choice questions delivered using a computer network (CBT) as per the scheme prescribed. The exam comprises 200 multiple choices, single correct response questions in the English language only. The time allotted is 3 hrs 30 min.

There is a 25% negative marking for incorrect answers. No marks will be deducted for unattempted questions.

NEET PG Admit Card

The Admit card for NEET PG is available online on the official website for eligible candidates prior to examination. The admit card can be downloaded from the official website by entering the required details. It contains the details like name, roll number, exam date & timing and exam centre.

Candidates have to bring the admit card along with one photo ID card like PAN card, Aadhar Card, Driving Licence, etc., to appear in the examination. Without the admit card, candidates cannot enter the examination hall.

NEET PG Result

The result of the NEET PG exam is declared by the competent authority. Candidates can obtain the result by accessing the official portal using their roll number/registration number etc.

Thereafter, the merit list is prepared on the basis of marks obtained and the rank card is issued accordingly. The rank C]card is an important document that has a candidate’s score and All India Rank.

NEET PG Counselling

On the basis of the NEET PG result, the eligible candidates participate in the counselling process. Directorate General of Health Science (DGHS) and Medical Counselling Committee (MCC)  facilitate the process for 50% All India Quota seats. For the remaining 50% of seats, counselling is done by State authorities. Final admission is based on NEET PG score, choice filled and the number of seats available.

The candidates have to keep all the relevant documents ready, as the original documents are subjected to verification during the counselling process. If anyone fails to produce relevant documents, then their candidature is cancelled. Admission is allotted to the students purely on the basis of merit.
