When senior students in the MGM Medical College in Indore were accused of ragging their junior classmates, the juniors contacted the University Grants Commission and relayed their harrowing experience.

Bhopal: Madhya Pradesh’s biggest MBBS college has been accused of ragging, a type of abuse. They forced seniors to force juniors to perform vulgar and abusive acts. The identities of the seniors have not been revealed.

The horrified juniors at MGM Medical College in Indore called the University Grants Commission’s (UGC) anti-ragging helpline following the incident involving senior students and described their heinous experience. The junior MBBS students claimed to the police that they were forced to act like they had sex with pillows and fellow batch members at the senior MBBS students’ flats.

The UGC had no tolerance for ragging, which can scar students for life and contacted the college after finding out about this. The anti-ragging committee then decided to file a police case against all the accused.

Additionally, it was claimed that the seniors forced the male freshmen to engage in abusive and obscene behavior, such as forcing them to choose the name of a female classmate and making derogatory comments about her.

The complain also alleged that the professors did nothing for the students and instead support the culprits.

Police continue to investigate the group and force them to take drug tests. The Indore Police said they will start recording the statements of all MBBS freshers.

The junior pupils claim they were made to perform sit-ups, have their phones taken, and hit each other so hard that it can be heard “loud and clear.”

Some of the students in the study do not feel safe to disclose their identity and are fearful of seniors taking revenge.

The UGC is investigating after receiving a detailed complaint and evidence that includes audio and video recordings of junior students being ragged and tortured at the college.

As students allege inaccuracy of senior students’ attendance records and cheating during exams, the local police station has taken statements from all of the concerned individuals to uncover that involved in these incidents.
